Carla Plante (CG Plante)

Carla is a Tsimshian/Cree, multidisciplinary artist working in film, digital media , theatre, stand up comedy, writing, acrylic paints, collage, sculpture, traditional drumming, dance and multi instruments, who is always open to expanding her artistic expression and learning. Carla decided after the recent loss of her mother, to embark into watercolors as a way to journey with her grief. As she adventured into the watercolor arena, she discovered that she enjoyed the process and challenges. One of the ways to have the feeling of support through her grief was to share all her paintings with her close family and friends. To allow the vulnerability of having others to see her grief and love for her mother. From that, Susan Knight was inspired to partner up and co-create this wonderful wearable art.

This beautiful heart, that is part of a series of multicoloured pieces, beautifully expresses all the different emotions that have arisen while sitting with grief…..the dark pain of loss, the beautiful lightness of the love, the rainbow of emotions that bring us all to a place of surrender, acceptance and acknowledgment of how loved we all are. That we are all one heart.
